I am writing this review to specifically respond to the criticism that this pack will not carry weight comfortably. Simply put, if you want to carry max weight this pack is rated for then you will need to use the strapettes you can buy for it. I doubt you will find a waist pack that will carry that kind of weight any better. For me, I bought the day version for having more space for bulky light weight items in addition to water. After over 100 miles of day trip trails I am still glad I bought a Mountainsmith product and am happy with the day model. I usually carry 48oz of water plus filter, 1-2 pounds of food, a few first aid items or bear spray depending on the hiking location and a packable jacket in case the weather changes, along with wallet phone and keys. This pack handles the weight described with no additional strap for 6-8 hours of hiking without a problem and it keeps my body enjoying a full range of motion on the trails while staying cooler without anything pressed against my back and shoulders. There are definitely cheaper packs out there but if you use it a lot like I do it is definitely worth the money.Used this pack during my elk hunt this year. Very sturdy and love all the pockets, but the hip belt isn't stffl enough to support the pack when it's full. Very glad I bought the Mountainsmith strapettes to go with it.
